ACRL Roadshow - Scholarly Communication: From Understanding to Engagement

ACRL Roadshow - Scholarly Communication: From Understanding to Engagement In-Person

Academic and research librarians increasingly recognize scholarly communication as a core competency of the profession. Whether guiding responsible copyright practice, helping researchers understand their publishing options, or meeting funders’ mandates for public access and data preservation and sharing, librarians are leading change across campus and around the world. With this workshop, ACRL seeks to empower our community in accelerating the transformation of the scholarly communication system.

This free workshop is appropriate for liaison librarians and any others seeking to advance their professional development in scholarly communication, as well as anyone with new leadership assignments in scholarly communication or digital publishing.

Presenters Carla Meyers (Miami University), and John Martin (University of North Texas) will cover the basics of scholarly communications, lead an exercise in copyright and publication agreements, and dive more deeply into scholarly publishing, open access, and research data management.
