Support your Students with Free, Accessible OpenStax Textbooks

Support your Students with Free, Accessible OpenStax Textbooks In-Person / Online

Join us on September 25, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the Faculty Seminar Room - Lib 1522 or Zoom for an engaging session with David Harris, Editor in Chief of OpenStax. Discover how OpenStax textbooks can enhance your teaching and benefit your students, particularly in introductory courses across business, computer science, humanities, math, nursing, science, and social sciences.

OpenStax textbooks are peer-reviewed, offer significant cost savings, and easily integrate with Canvas. Instructors also have free access to valuable resources, including course cartridges, solution manuals, PowerPoint lecture slides, and more. Importantly, all online access to OpenStax materials is completely free of cost—only print textbooks carry a nominal fee.

A recent highlight is the 10th edition of Organic Chemistry by John McMurry, Professor Emeritus at Cornell University. While advanced materials are still developing, OpenStax is ideal for foundational courses. Additionally, the College Physics textbook, co-authored by Sac State’s Paul Peter Urone, is the most used open textbook in the U.S. By adopting OpenStax, you’ll help Sac State move toward becoming a Zero or Low Textbook Cost institution, making education more affordable and accessible. For more information, visit OpenStax Webinars.

There will be time for Q&A to explore how these resources can be tailored to your courses.

This event is hosted by Sac State University Library and the Center for Teaching & Learning.
