FAHM Film Series: Himala In-Person
The Filipino American History Month (FAHM) Planning Committee invites all members of the Sacramento State University community to a screening of 3 films during the month of October 2025. Following the 2025 theme, Faith, Labor, and Care: Sacrifices and Solidarity among Filipino Americans on Screen, the films chosen illustrate enduring features of Filipino cultural heritage and history.
Himala (1984, runtime: 124 minutes) is a film from the Philippines, directed by Ishmael Bernal, starring Nora Aunor, and is widely considered to be one of the best Filipino films of all time. The film tells the story of a woman who claims to see Marian apparitions. The film screening of Himala is scheduled to kick off Filipino American History Month 2025.
