FAHM Film Series: Nurse Unseen In-Person
The Filipino American History Month (FAHM) Planning Committee invites all members of the Sacramento State University community to a screening of 3 films during the month of October 2025. Following the 2025 theme, Faith, Labor, and Care: Sacrifices and Solidarity among Filipino Americans on Screen, the films chosen illustrate enduring features of Filipino cultural heritage and history.
Nurse Unseen (2023, runtime: 93 minutes) is a feature documentary that explores the little-known history and humanity of the unsung Filipino nurses who risked their lives on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic while facing a resurgence of anti-Asian hate in the streets thousands of miles from home.
A panel discussion exploring the themes in the documentary--immigration, labor, anti-Asian violence--follows the screening.
